The Detroit Lions announced that Lions TE Tim Wright officially cleared waivers on Tuesday and reverted to the team’s injured reserve list.

Detroit waived Wright last week with the injured designation after he suffered a torn ACL, so it was a strong possibility that he was going to end up on I.R..

Wright, 26, wound up signing on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers back in 2013. He spent a year in Tampa Bay before he was traded to the Patriots in a deal for G Logan Mankins.

The Patriots waived Wright a year later and he returned to the Buccaneers after they claimed off of waivers. Interestingly enough, the Buccaneers managed to trade Wright for a second time in August of last year to the Lions in return for K Kyle Brindza.

Detroit elected to re-sign Wright to a one-year, $675,000 contract back in March.

In 2015, Wright appeared in nine games for the Lions and caught nine passes for 77 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
